Editing outlines in Colorscape

We received some feedback regarding the editing outline function so we thought we would post these two videos to make the editing functions clearer:

The first video shows an image being chosen from the Photo Gallery on our iPhone. We chose a photo of a lion and once the outline is generated, and Colorscape automatically generates four options that can be selected by sliding the blue dot along the slider.

By tapping the “Line settings” button on the bottom right of the screen, a further menu will come up where you can alter the “Resolution”, the “Number” of lines and the “Detail” level of the outline. You can reset or undo any changes at any time.

The second video shows how you can alter the outline of an image that you have created previously. Once you open Colorscape and are on the Outline screen, tap anywhere on the outline that has been generated and then tap “Back” on the top left of the screen. On the video, we have used th image we created of the Floating Island. That then bring up the screen where you can choose the preset outlines or where you can tap the “Line settings” button and the options of Resolution, Lines and Detail come up again.

In the this second video, we have used the eraser function to rub out parts of the outline – these will change the image for colouring and also we have scribbled with the pen tool – this would add lines to the outline. Finally, we have used the undo and reset buttons to clear our changes.

We hope this helps – please just email us if you want to ask something.

February Colorscape Colouring Book

February Colorscape Colouring Book

Hi Colorscapers

Welcome to this month’s free  February Colorscape Colouring Book!

A little early but we wanted to get this post before the weekend so everyone can download the colouring book.

So for February, we decided to go with the theme of National Days and Celebrations.

We found this link and used it as the basis of our images:

https://www.eparenting.co.uk/celebrations/celebrations_and_events_in_february.php

So we have National Hedgehog Day, the birthdays of Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens,  World Hippo Day, Pancake Day, International Polar Bear Day and Pokemon Day.

We also have Valentine’s Day and the Chinese New Year.

We made the colouring book in Colorscape and all the images have been uploaded to our Gallery Page and are completely free to download and use. All the images have been generated by us apart from the images of Marconi (to mark World Radio Day) and Charles Darwin’s Finches. We have included the links below for those pages also:

https://www.history.com/topics/inventions/guglielmo-marconi

https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/2010582

We also go the image of the Pancakes from the BBC and here is the link to the recipe:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/fluffyamericanpancak_74828

For the front cover of this month’s book, we used our AI engine to make a new Pokemon and we are pretty happy with what it came up with. We call her Foxeye!!

Enjoy and see you soon

Colorscape Colouring Books

Colorscape Colouring Books

Hey Colorscapers!

We are ways looking to add value and benefit our users and so for 2024, we wish to give away a free colouring book every month. So every month, we will use Colorscape to generate a colouring book pdf and you can download it for free! You can use the original images from which we make the outlines for free and you don’t even need to download Colorscape!

We would prefer it if you would download it but we want to offer something no other colouring app or company does!

So for our first offering, we wanted something to capture the new year and to be honest in Cambridge, there is not much inspiration to be had. It is cold, great and today it started snowing….just in time for Christmas…..?????

But January is still a month of new beginnings and fresh starts and so we took our inspiration from why January is called January and that is from the Roman God, Janus.

We used our AI engine to generate that image and 9 other Roman Gods and Goddesses. We hope you like our creations and that you can guess which deities we have depicted.

Colorscape Android Launched

Colorscape Android Launched

Happy New Year Colorscapers!

We are very excited to announce that we have launched the updated version of Coloscape Android on the Google Play Store!

We have refreshed the user interface and added the pixel art and pdf colouring book functionality.

Even better is that we have the AI image generation tool also. For our Android version, we used the Dalle 3 AI engine and we think the results are amazing. Many of our Christmas images were made with this AI engine and we will be integrating it in an update of our iOS version also.

And the image with this blog post was created in Colorscape!

We are still waiting to see if we integrate the physical goods creation part of the app that is featured in our iOS version.

You can download the Android version using the button below:

Thanksgiving Coloring Book

Thanksgiving Coloring Book

Hi Colorscapers!

Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends in the US!

We wanted to make a Thanksgiving coloring book that can be downloaded and given to the kids and adults whilst all the food, etc., is being prepared for the feast day.

We’ve chosen a great range of outlines. In the book, we have the Mayflower ship (at least a replica of it!). We have an outline of the pilgrim houses in Plymouth, cartoons of the Pilgrim Fathers and even some outlines of floats on the Macy’s parade.

We had some images of our own and some we generated using our AI image generator but the pdf was created in Colorscape in a few seconds and exported as a PDF.

We hope you enjoy the book and we hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!

See you soon

Good morning Colorscapers!

It’s almost the weekend!

Colorscape is based in the heart of Cambridge, England and we are very lucky to live and work in this beautiful city.

The parks and colleges are an inspiration for so many professional and amateur photographers alike. A few years back just before the pandemic, we created a colouring book of some Cambridge sites and we were close to getting the book into local bookshops. That was at the start of March 2020 and obviously, a couple of weeks later, everything had changed.

We still went ahead and made print copies and we sold the book on Etsy. It is now out of print but we wanted to share the book with you all – it is completely free to Download and we hope you enjoy not just the outlines but the photos also.

We have three colouring storybooks that are going to be published in January 2024 so keep checking in for more. And we are pretty excited about the artwork and the stories we have come up with.

But in the meantime, we hope you enjoy this one!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Text to Image AI and Colorscape

Text to Image AI and Colorscape

Hey there Colorscapers – welcome to another blog post! Hope you all had a great weekend!

We wanted to speak about text-image AI and why we think this was made for Colorscape.

When we first thought about Colorscape, we wanted to make our own colouring outlines to use at home. Still, we wanted those outlines to be personal and not like the other colouring apps that produce the same sort of images that do not have any resonance or personal meaning.

This is where we think text-image AI complements what we were trying to convey by generating outlines from our photos in the first Colorscape release.

One of the issues we always had in trying to promote Colorscape was the content generation side. After all, who wants to see our holiday pictures or family get-togethers?

We view text-to-image AI as imagining the story in our minds when we read a book. But what the AI does is that it crystallises our imagination into images that we can use, save and share.

Colorscape has integrated with the Stable Diffusion API and we think that they address the concerns surrounding generative AI. They incorporate a filter where users cannot create any illicit material and the quality of the data behind the AI engine means that the output is stunning.

We admit that we had to practice with our prompts to get the best image results.

For example, take a look at the different images we can make with the subject of Halloween:

The prompts for these images from left to right were:

1.Epic Halloween Fantasy Art by John Stephans

2. Creepy halloween aesthetic, trending on unsplash, [ 4 k photorealism ], professional photography, [ overhead view of a table ], shot by jimmy nelson

3. Halloween festival with colorful fireworks, 8 k octane beautifully detailed render, post – processing, extremely hyper – detailed, intricate, epic composition, cinematic lighting, masterpiece, trending on artstation, masterpiece, stunning art by anders zorn, wonderful masterpiece by greg rutkowski, beautiful cinematic

All three images are obviously halloween based but all three images are very different and also unique.

We think that we will have to learn to utilize AI as a tool just as a few years ago, the internet was an emerging technology and no one really knew how it would grow and how it would be used to benefit us. And just like many tools, there is a potential to use them poorly and a potential to use them wisely.

Text-to-image AI is perfect for Colorscape and we think it will only enhance creativity!

Also, with Colorscape, you can use the images to create outlines or put them straight onto physical goods like T-shirts and hoodies. And so you can really bring your creativity to life!

We would love to see some of your creations – so please email them in and if they are AI-generated, then also send in the prompts. We will feature them on a future blog post.

Editing The Sagrada Familia!

Editing The Sagrada Familia!

We were lucky enough to visit Barcelona last week and one of the obvious places to visit was the Sagrada Familia.

Designed by Antonia Saudi, the Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família is yet to be finished but amongst the cranes and scaffolding, its beauty and magnificence attracts millions of tourists.

Unfortunately, due to crowds, we could not get a ticket to visit inside that particular day but we thought we would use some of our pictures of the outside to show how Colorscape can edit the outlines generated from photos.

We chose the Sagrada Familia as the subject of today’s post as we don’t think you could find a more intricate, complicated building facade anywhere in the World.  And it would be a great challenge to put the photo through Colorscape!

After generating the outline, we removed the cranes which we did with the eraser tool and then we had to draw in part of the spire with the line tool. These are are both on the editing screens as shown in the second and third images.

Once we are happy, we can start colouring in the spires!

This was our attempt to capture the Sagrada Familia in a colorscape!

We hope the brief tutorial was useful!

See you soon Colorscapers!
